Ms. Lynn: Expert Tutor for Students with Learning Disabilities
Ms. Lynn found her passion in teaching First and Second Grade Special Education at Baltimore Lab School, a nonpublic Special Education school serving bright, motivated students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other specific learning disabilities. She found that by creating strong relationships with students, families, and related service providers she could ensure that her students were getting the best education possible.
Ms. Lynn has a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s degree in teaching special education from Notre Dame of Maryland University. In 2019 Ms. Lynn trained with the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) in the Orton-Gillingham reading method, and in 2022 she became a Reading Simplified Expert Teacher/Tutor. Ms. Lynn has been certified in Special Education, Early Childhood, and Elementary Education.
After many years in the classroom teaching in person – and virtually during Covid – Ms. Lynn has spent the past 5 years providing reading and special education services via her company, Sand Dollar Tutoring.
Ms. Lynn has lived all over the US and currently lives in Anacortes, Washington and Gearhart, Oregon.
Working with Ms. Lynn over the past 2 years has been an incredible experience for our family. She truly goes above and beyond to personalize instruction for our daughter’s strengths, interests, needs and learning style. Every lesson is thoughtfully planned, engaging, and tailored to help build reading and writing skills. What stands out most is her patience, encouragement, and genuine commitment to our daughter’s success. She takes the time to understand where she is struggling and creates creative, effective strategies to help her improve. She communicates with us after each session and keeps us posted on her observations and where she is headed next with her. The progress we’ve seen in both reading ability and self-confidence has been remarkable. Ms. Lynn cares deeply about her students and is passionate about helping them succeed. She does a wonderful job of building a connection virtually and we are forever thankful for all she has done to help my daughter. I would highly recommend her to any family looking for a knowledgeable, dedicated, and compassionate tutor.
